This one is for the WOMEN. To say that I feel seen is a understatement. Hats off to the writers.
Vanessa Kirby deserves all the recognition, praise and more. Here we have a massive superhero blockbuster with a leading female character who is, on the one hand, incredibly smart, capable, emotionally-mature and perhaps the most powerful person on the planet, and on the other, a woman who...struggles with infertility? And she's simply expected to give her baby up?
"Just because I'm not talking about doesn't mean I don't think about it." Girl, I hear you. If I could have that on a t-shirt I would.
The familt dynamic was second to none. To have achieved such a high level of believeability in the first act was so refreshing. I expected as much from Ebon Moss-Bachrach given his performance in The Bear from a family-standpoint and I'm stoked to see him on the big screen.
We often bring a film down because its characters lack basic communication skills to solve problems thus leading to preventable situations, but when it actually happens, somehow it's boring? I don't understand this lose-lose sentiment. We have a super-family who uses their brains, unique powers and communication skills work their way through problems and find solutions to impossible scenarios instead of throwing hissy-fits and running away.
Galactus is a good villian. He just wanted some food. I too have thought about devouring whole planets when I get hungry so I empathise.
The visuals and set aesthetic were fantastic; it was like a mash-up of Loki and WandaVision and I love it. I just wish they would've spent more time translating the same vibe to the streets of NY in the last act.
